Potty Training Time!

Wearing Memaw's glasses

Gavin will be turning 3 in less then 3 weeks. Up to this point he has wanted nothing to do with potty training. In fact, his pediatrician advised us NOT to start potty training him until we got his "bowel issues" resolved. He would hold it in for days and become incredably constipated, then when he finally did go it would hurt him. That just made him want to hold it in all the more...poor baby was scared it would hurt. We changed his diet, cutting out a lot of dairy and adding LOTS of fruits and veggies and foods high in fiber. On top of all that, we are giving him fiber supplements. Thankfully all this has worked and his fear of going "poo-poo" is a thing of the past.
Today Gavin came into the living room naked and headed to the basket where I keep his diapers.

"What are you doing?" I asked him.

"I changing my diaper Mama. All by myself!"
Ummm....when a kid starts changing his own diaper do you think he's ready to be potty trained? ~LOL~
He had gone to the bathroom and taken off his poopy diaper and put it into the bathroom trash. Yeah, it was gross...but I'll spare the gory details...

Life, as I know it, has changed.

Maya and Camille have developed so much in the past week. Camille is pulling up on everything, trying to walk. She is so aggressive and determined. Her favorite thing to do is stand at the bookshelf and pull EVERY book off. She also enjoys standing at the front window watching her brothers and the neighbor kids playing...she just stands there laughing and yelling at them.

Maya is officially crawling now. She has been doing the army crawl for a few weeks now, but has never been to interested in getting around. Instead she would just roll for a toy (or yell). Yesterday she was crying for me, but I didn't get up right away to pick her up. After a couple minutes of crying she stopped and crawled across the living room to her sister to play! Like she'd been crawling for months! This morning she and Camille have been ALL OVER THE HOUSE! It's a whole new ballgame with two crawling babies. I need to get back into the habit of vacuuming and sweeping/mopping daily. Yipee.

"I don't like Zander"

Gavin fixed my hair in this picture...do you like?
He got his hair cut last week and now he loves to "cut" my hair.
Today Ely had a couple of side jobs to do and decided to take Zander along. That left me at home with Gavin and the twins. Amazing how the dynamics of the house change with just one child missing. Without his brother to torment and play with Gavin was unusually sweet and talkative. He helped me fold laundry and fix lunch. We had a great day, no major melt downs. By the end of the day he kept checking the front window looking for "daddy's truck." I asked him if he missed his brother.

"No. I miss Daddy. I don't like Zander."

The funny thing is, as soon as he saw Zander he ran to him and gave him a bear hug.

"Single Mom"

A day at the park...look at all my babies!

My hats are off to all single mothers out there! My husband left for Kansas City tonight and won't be back until tomorrow night. I got a little taste of what it would be like without him...no fun. The kids were great, but it's tough on your own!

Update

Maya, Camille, and Hannah (my sister's baby)

Wow. I haven't blogged in a while. Update time.

We're not moving!! Yeah! I totally freaked out when we started putting the plans together. Now don't get me wrong, I love Nashville, but my children are so young right now that the thought of not having the support of family close by scares me to death. Just this week, I had to go to the doctor and thankfully I had someone to watch my children. (Thanks Memaw & LeLe!)

This week I have been having issues nursing and have been trying to supplement with formula...yeah, my girls aren't having anything to do with a bottle. Their doctor suggested that I skip the bottle and go straight to a cup or sippy cup. They can drink out of a glass (with help)...I worry they aren't getting enough. Right now I only have enough milk for two feedings each day for each twin. I am pumping to try to bring back my milk supply. On top of all that, the girls have an ear infection. Poor babies.

I hate to quit nursing. I enjoy it so much and the girls aren't ready to wean. It has been very uncomfortable nursing (screaming pain!). I know they're latched on correctly. A friend of mine suggested that it may be yeast. Could be, the twins and I are all on antibiotics. I'm going to the doctor again on Tuesday. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of it, because I don't know how much longer I can handle this.

Moving

LeLe & Camille
Most of you who read this blog already know that we are moving soon. Ely and I moved to Oklahoma for a few reasons. #1 Zander was a baby and I was a now a stay at home mom. Huge change, and wanted to be around family. #2 We wanted to get out of debt and then move to our "dream" destination....somewhere in the mountains.
We have payed off the majority of our debt...all credit card and medical & most of school. We want to buy a home, and have been trying to decide where. We both loved Nashville, TN. So we decided to move back. Ely got a job with his old employer, he starts the beginning of April. That's only weeks away!!

I am excited about a new adventure in our lives, but am totally sad! It has really sunk in after telling my family. They, understandably, don't want us to move because they love the children and want to be near them. I am going to miss all the love and support I get from them. Help with doctor appointments, babysitters, and relationships. AHHHH!!! I want to cry. Is this a good idea? Can I do it by myself!? I'm getting cold feet....

Random

I'm not really in the mood to blog today...I'm just exhausted. I'm ready to veg out in front of the TV for an hour or so and unwind with a glass of wine (thanks Jessica and Jaemi!)
I thought I'd post a couple of cute pictures of the kids.

My beautiful, happy, healthy, amazingly sweet 8 month old identical twins
Maya Louise & Camille Rose

Here's a picture of Gavin being a superhero with "tatoos."

I can't keep clothes on that boy!
He loves to be naked...I'm lucky to keep his diaper on him.

This is an example of Zander dressing himself.
**notice the socks with sandles**
I want to write his teacher a note explaining that he picks out his own clothes!
