Maya and Camille had a well child doctor's appointment today. Gavin has been coughing and crying at night and decided to take him in as well. I was by myself...no biggie right? I take care of four kids all day long. I can handle 10 month old twins and an active 3 year old in a doctor's office by myself....ummm....never again! I learned my lesson. I'm good, but not that good.
The girls were in rare form. They cried the entire visit! (Turns out, they both have an ear infection. I felt so bad, I thought they were just fussy because they were teething.) Gavin, knowing that I am busy with the babies, takes advantage of the situation and decides to rearrange all the waiting room furniture. After 15 minutes of screaming and numerous dirty looks thrown my way, a little old lady came over and asked if she could help. I quickly said "Yes!" and handed her a crying baby. Another lady took the old woman's cue and stepped in and navigated Gavin back toward his coloring book. This gave me the opportunity to nurse one of the twins to calm her down. Switch babies with the older lady. She then rocked Camille to sleep while I nursed Maya. Whew. I'm exhausted just typing it all! So a big THANK YOU to the angels in the doctor's office that helped me keep my sanity today.
By the way, the pediatrician suggested I put butter on the girls veggies to fatten them up! BUTTER!? It just seems wrong. I'm going to have to research that advice before I try it.

I hate those kind of days! You were brave to even try it alone! I can't believe they told you to put butter on their veggies! They look like they are good weights to me - but what do I know!
You are super mom. I don't think I could do it! Hope the kiddos all get better soon.
And I have to agree...seems odd to offer butter to a baby. There much be a better way to "fatten" up a baby. I also agree with Darla - they look like pretty good sizes to me! Trust your instinct
Thanks ladies! yeah-butter on veggies seems like a bad habbit to get into. I did buy them some whole milk yogurt for them today...
Personally, I just think they are small girls. They just aren't gaining weight fast because they are VERY ACTIVE!! They are both over 17lbs.
Sorry all the kiddos are sick... it's so hard to see them puny! Did they get a snake or a spider or a bug in their ears?? LOL... The butter thing is crazy... never heard of that before! Can't believe you ventured out to the dr. alone... U R A SUPERMOM!
ahh I hope all of them are feeling better now, I learned my lesson I won't even take the twins to the dr. by myself anymore, I can't pay attention to them and to the dr to answer all their questions while trying to undress and dress babies, doing it with one is crazy enough two is rediculous. If you ever need help (someone to watch one for you or to go with you let me know I have people that will watch mine)
Also about the butter, they will tell you that kind of thing at the nutritionist too plus to add gravy and cream and things like that to their foods to fatten then up..no thank you I'll just feed them more healthy foods, my boys are just now 16 lbs, we just have to remember that BF babies are going to be a bit smaller then FF babies, your girls look plenty healthy to me.
